Mumbai, Nov 22: A chief of a public relations firm has been arrested for allegedly circulating wrong information about Bollywood actress Sayali Bhagat in media.
“Anant Narayan, MD of Crème Talent Management, was arrested from Gurgaon yesterday,” Nandkishore More, Senior Inspector at Cyber police station, told PTI on Monday.
He was booked under IPC Sections 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) and relevant sections of Information Technology Act,” he said.
According to police, the 25-year-old met the former Miss India at an event in July this year and claimed that his PR firm was handling several celebrities, including Hollywood actress Paris Hilton.
“Narayan went to the actor's house on August 27 where he spoke about various contracts he has bagged and convinced the victim to appoint his firm as her publicist. She asked Narayan to handle her PR and signed a contract,” More said.
Subsequently, he arranged her interviews with several media groups, More said, adding, “Bhagat was often asked by the media people if she had problem with actor Shiney Ahuja.”
“She denied having any tiff with Ahuja and sought to know the source of this information. The reporters named Narayan's PR agency,” the inspector said.
Later, it was reported that actors Ahuja, Arya Babbar, Sajid Khan and Amitabh Bachchan had misbehaved with her and Bhagat will be filing police complaints against them.
This information was also given by Narayan, More added.
She rubbished these reports and lodged a police complaint on October 26 against Narayan, who has been remanded in police custody till November 23 by a local court.
