Mumbai: Cash and jewellery worth Rs 55 lakh were stolen from actor Perizaad Zorabian's house in Seven Apartments, Pali Hill.

The police suspect Zorabian's domestic help Karan, who's been missing since the incident on Sunday afternoon, is responsible for the crime. The actor and her family were

away in Khopoli at their poultry farm, reports Mirror.

The police lament the actor had not bothered to register Karan's details at the local police station, nor does she know where he stays.

Cops only know he had come to the city from Orissa. Karan was a recent addition to Zorabian's staff, having got the job just two months ago.

An officer from Bandra police station said, “The family had gone out leaving the house in the care of its trusted domestic help, Mohan Raut. Around 3 pm on Sunday, Raut

went to his quarters and we suspect Karan seized the opportunity.”

The family lost Rs 2 lakh in cash, designer watches, and gold and diamond jewellery. Zorabian returned around 6.30 pm on Sunday, to find the house in a mess.

The door was unlocked, cupboards in a disarray. Inspector Prakash George said, “We are probing all possibilities but are more or less convinced about the role of an

insider.”
