New Delhi: Saima Azhar, a Pakistani model, who recently walked the ramp for Pakistani and Indian designers in the capital, has said sorry to India for girls like Veena Malik.

After spending only a week in Delhi, the model feels that she belongs to India and not Pakistan as her father is from Hardoi (UP) and her mother is from Lucknow. She said, “I feel main wahan (in Pakistan) galti se drop ho gayi hoon, I should be in India.”

As reported in a leading daily, the gorgeous model said she was only born and brought up in Pakistan as her father had migrated there. This was her first visit to India and “she totally loved it”. She will soon be returning to India to get trained formally in acting as, after a four-year-long career in modelling, she is planning to take a leap in Bollywood.

Saima further told about her shopping spree while she stayed in the capital city. She said, “I spent most of my time here shopping. I went to Chandni Chowk and bought some chanderi silk with zardozi and zari work and some beautiful saris as well. I was told by people here that Lajpat Nagar is a must-visit if you love shopping. So, one evening was spent at Lajpat Nagar buying jewellery.”

She stated, “Good actors from Pakistan like Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan are working here now and doing some good work. I don't want to talk about girls like Veena Malik. I should be saying sorry to India on behalf of these girls. What she did was not appreciable.”

Further talking about the Pakistani fashion industry, she revealed that contrary to people's belief, fashion in Pakistan is very edgy.

She said that there designers experiment with various drapes and cuts and now even burqas have got a modern makeover while adding that not too many women wear them anymore.

“I have never worn one, but now burqas come in all colours and are tailored like gowns, as per body type. Some young designers make burqas with embroidery. In countries like Canada, velvet burqas are in demand. The starting price for designer burqas is about Rs 10,000, and it can go higher depending on the fabric used and the embroidery," she added.
