“It is absolutely justified because in the past we have seen films from here showing Pakistan in bad light or criticising the country. So they are just taking precaution,” Kabir told PTI.
Apparently, Pakistan has restrained its cable operators from screening promos and reviews of ‘Ek Tha Tiger' saying that the Bollywood movie is aimed at tarnishing the image of the ISI.
A letter issued by the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority, country's media regulatory watchdog, to all satellite TV channels and cable networks says ‘Ek Tha Tiger' is reportedly based on the activities of ISI and RAW.
“Ban is an incorrect word...there is no ban. They are holding it back due to political reasons. It is just that they have to give us NOC for the movie to be shown there. They will verify whether the film is proper to screen in Pakistan,” Kabir said.
The makers will be meeting the censor board in Pakistan and would show them the movie, ten days before its release.
“We are going through proper channels where we will have to take our film to censor board to get NOC from them. We will do this ten days before the release of the film,” Kabir said.
Contrary to reports that Salman will be visiting Pakistan, the actor today said he is not going there.
Despite the controversy, Kabir seems positive with the film's response in Pakistan.
“This film will be big money spinner for them,” Kabir said.
Produced by Yash Raj Films, the film is set to release on August 15.
