Mumbai: Actor Ajay Devgn, who would be stepping in the shoes of veteran star Jeetendra in the new version of ‘Himmatwala', says there is no scope for comparison with him.

“I don't think there is any chance of comparison in the film. The way the script has been adapted from the 80's style keeping in mind today's audience, it is different. So in similar way Sajid can't direct and I can't perform.

When one adapts a script point of view changes,” Ajay told reporters here, on the sidelines of a recording session for the chart buster song ‘Taaki O Taaki' by 100 musicians.  Director Sajid Khan is all charged up to remake the Jeetendra-Sridevi starrer 1983 film ‘Himmatwala' with Ajay Devgn in the lead.

“When you will see my version of ‘Himmatwala' in 2013 with Ajay Devgn you will feel that it is not similar to Jeetuji's version of the film,” Sajid said.

“This is my version of ‘Himmatwala' and you will get to see many things which were not there in  the original.  Actually they are two different stories. We have taken rights officially for the film and for two songs,” he said.  This is not the first time that Ajay is doing a retro kind of a film. Earlier his film ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbai' was set in the 70s.

On if he thinks he is the man of all seasons and eras, Ajay said, “I don't know what to answer but it's a great feeling. You do something new, you attempt 70's and now you do
80's. We are fascinated with those times because we have been brought up on that (cinema) so it's going to be a lot of fun.”

These days Ajay is seen as an action hero or tickling the funny bone but now he will have to gear up for the dancing part, which he has played safe so far, as he steps into the shoes of Jeetendra, called as the jumping jack of Bollywood.  The songs and dances of the 1983 superhit film were popular and it coined new phrases like PT Dance.

“I am ready to do anything whatever they plan. For this film I am ready to do anything be it action or dance. You can't look at one department, it is a film in totality. I am looking at the whole film right now,” Ajay said.  “Farah would be the right person to answer about dance part.

I think Ajay's image is of action and intense hero type but for me he is a complete hero, he can do anything. Our film is not a take of ‘Himmatwala', or a spoof, it is based on the 1983 film,” Sajid said.

The leading lady for the film is yet to be finalised.  “We are looking at a fresh face...new heroine. And we will announce the same next month. We also have Prakash Raj and Paresh Rawal...this is a great combination,” Sajid said.  The film will go on floors from August.
