Mumbai, Mar 28: Corporate lobbyist Niira Radia, who was linked to the 2G spectrum scam, on Thursday appealed the Delhi High Court to put a stay on the release of the film, Monica — The Politics of Murder. Reportedly, film Monica depicts her life in a scandalous manner. Accepting her, the court has issued a notice to the producer of the film Kush Bhargava asking his response to the issue by March 30.

Reportedly, the film Monica portrays the scandalous life of Niira Radia. Actress Divya Dutta is playing Niira Radia in the film. Anip Sachthey, Radia's lawyer argued in the court saying, “The plaintiff (Radia) has not assigned anyone the right to make a film based on her life or any film showing the life of the petitioner, however minuscule, and the production of the film in such a brazen manner and public viewing of such film will tarnish or damage her image and reputation beyond repair which cannot be compensated.”

Justice V K Jain, however informed that no opinion could be formed and no order can be passed until the script of the film or the VCD of the film is presented before the court.

A few days ago in an exclusive interview with IANS, the producer of Monica, Kush Bhargava had explained his stand saying, “This movie was made more than a year ago when her (Niira Radia) name was known to very few people and she was not a public figure. So from my side it is a categorical denial that ‘Monica' has anything to do with Niira Radia.”

He continued, “In fact, it is not the story of anyone dead or alive. It is inspired by many stories like Shivani (Shivani Bhatnagar was an Indian Express journalist killed in 1999) and Madhumita Shukla (Lucknow based poetess who was also killed).”

He also cleared that the film has nothing to do with the 2G scam as the protagonist in the film, Monica dies in the film. However, his response to the court is still awaited.
