New Delhi, March 1 : Bollywood actor Nana Patekar has renewed his appeal to Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray to join hands, but himself ruled out joining active politics.

Replying to queries from Rajat Sharma in India TV show Aap Ki Adalat, the actor said: "I told them not to stay separately and work together for the benefit of all of us" (Aap donon alag-alag mat raho. Saath me kuch kaam karo, hamara bhala ho jayega)

Patekar however said that he had an equally good relationship with both NCP chief Sharad Pawar and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, "the reason being that I never sought favours from either of them till date, otherwise friendship ends".

Patekar said, he considered the late Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray as a father figure, but "he never gave me a ticket from his party".

The Bollywood actor said, he once visited Anna Hazare in jail to persuade him to call off his fast.

"I told him, don't sit on fast, your health is not good. We need people like you to raise questions. Society needs you" (Anshan mat karo, aapki tabiyat theek nahin. Aap jaise log chahiye jo prashna uthayenge. Samaj ko aapki zaroorat hai)

On his latest film "Attacks of 26/11" made by Ram Gopal Varma, Patekar said, megastar Amitabh Bachchan had written to him praising the film.
