New Delhi, Jul 21: Farhan Akhtar is back to short hair after playing Milkha Singh in biopic "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" but the actor says his daughter Akira misses his long locks.
The 39-year-old actor's last release saw him in a new avatar. His look was designed by his celebrity hair stylist wife Adhuna.
"My kids were very excited about my look in the film. When I chopped off my hair, my younger daughter really got upset.
She used to play with my long hair," Akhtar said. The biopic, directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, was well received by the audience and Farhan earned rave reviews for his portrayal of The Flying Sikh.
"For me personally, it was a challenge to do the part. I came out of my comfort zone because as an actor, I have never played anyone like this before. It was difficult but at the same time we were inspired by Milkha Singh's story," Farhan said.
The 'Rock On!' star, who was in the Capital to be a part of Royal Enfield event, gifted the bike that he rode in the movie to a lucky winner of "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" contest.
Hamininder Singh from Srinagar won the contest. Farhan said he was happy that Milkha Singh liked the film and his performance.
"I am really happy that he liked the film very much and this was the most important thing for me. We maintained a certain respect in the performance and the dignity for him and his family through out the film," he said.
Recouting his experience of shooting the biopic, Farhan said, "There were meny memorable moments on the sets. I remember we were shooting a race and Milkhaji happened to be there. It was a surreal experience because I was in his get-up."
Farhan has also directed movies like "Dil Chahta Hai", "Lakshya" and "Don".
