Mumbai, Dec 10 : Mumbai's Oshiwara police has claimed to have solved the case of firing at a TV director Sikander Mirza on November 3 in Lokhandwala, by arresting an assistant director and three others.

Sikander Mirza was getting calls from a PCO demanding Rs 50 lakhs as extortion money for the last several months. A man named Ganesh  also used to make threatening calls from at least four cellphones, police said.

After Sikander Mirza complained to police, the threatening calls stopped. On November 3, Mirza was shot in his foot outside a hotel in Lokhandwala. And, soon afterwards, the man calling himself Ganesh again started making threatening calls, police said. He was given a seven-day deadline or face death.

After a month-long investigation, police nabbed four persons - Asst Director Tariq Bhat, Saleem Khan, Jalal Khan and Mohsin Khan.

Tariq Bhat has worked in several TV serials and music albums as an assistant director and he knew Sikander Mirza's movements, police said. Tariq Bhat used to work in Bollywood actor Rahul Bhatt's office, police added.
