New Delhi: The biopic over the most successful India Cricket Captain MS Dhoni has finally found a producer and it is Fox Star Studios. While it was already declared that ‘A Wednesday' and ‘Special 26' fame Neeraj Pandey will be helming the project, picture over who will bear the cost of its making was unclear.
According to leading daily, the discussions over the negotiations were on but recently the deal is being done with Fox Star Studios for Rs 80 cr. The daily also states further that out of the said deal, Rs 20 cr will be paid to Dhoni for acquiring rights of his life's story. Moreover, as part of the backend deal, the cricketer will also get a share in the film's profits and royalties.
If this update is anything to go by then Dhoni, who was ranked 22nd in the Forbes List of World's Highest Paid Athletes last year, has hit another big deal.
The mammoth amount to be paid to the cricketer for biopic is all the more similar to his yearly salary (Rs 23.6 cr), as per Forbes June, 2014 which is another big addition to his over flowing bank account. Dhoni's total earnings are nearly Rs 177 crore while from brand endorsements he sweeps over Rs 153 crore.
Alike Dhoni, the biopic which will star Sushant Singh Rajput in the title role seems to be getting bigger and bigger.
While Fox Star is going to produce the flick, which would be a viable decision from its marketing perspective since they has major investments in a sports channel that they own, the cherry on the cake is actress Alia Bhatt who is also roped in to play Sakshi, wife of MS Dhoni.
Apart from her actor, John Abraham will probably play fast bowler Ishant Sharma, Fawad Khan will be seen playing Virat Kohli, Bigg Boss 8 contestant Gautam Gulati is expected to essay Zaheer Khan's character and Aftab Shivdasani will be seen as Joginder Sharma.
The movie made buzz ever since its first poster got out which could be read as ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story' while couple of weeks ago, snap of Sushant in cricketer's avatar just added to that curiosity.
Well, we just can't wait for its final product. Director Neeraj Pandey has also penned the movie and is expected to touch upon several interesting facts of his personal life besides his journey on cricket field. The movie is slated to release later this year.
