Movie Review: Murder 3, unimpressive

Love, trust and loyalty, are the three things among those which a couple shares and expects from each other, unless it is ruined by jealousy and skepticism. The debutant director Vishesh Bhatt's ‘Murder 3' is finally all about these ingredients but is portrayed in a messy way.The flick looks into a fashion and a wildlife photographer Vikram's (Randeep Hooda) life who moves from Cape Town to Mumbai with his lady love Roshni (Aditi Rao Hydari).All goes fine between the two until Roshni suspects Vikram's loyalty and finally decides to leave him with just a ‘farewell' video message.Upset Vikram complains to the police about her disappearance but himself becomes the suspect in the case however, they find no prove against his involvement.While the disheartened and lonely Vikram consumes the pain of Roshni's departure in a Bar, he falls in love with Nisha (Sara Loren), the bartender working there. A new chapter of love and seduction opens and the duo shifts to a palatial house build decades ago where Vikram and Roshni used to live before.The house is as scary at night as it is beautiful during the daytime. Soon Nisha finds something wrong in the house, something haunted, someone within, someone staring and finally tries to unfold the hidden truth. Well what's that truth? Find it out.Minus Emraan Hashmi, the debuting director Vishesh Bhatt tries to offer you the same thrills and chills as the two ‘Murder' prequels delivered before.Like the last two which were inspired from the Hollywood dramas namely ‘Unfaithful' and “The Silence of the Lambs”, Murder 3 is also the official adaptation of the Spanish thriller ‘The Hidden Face'.But like the earlier two flicks, Murder 3 doesn't offer you the same entertainment. There isn't any murder in the flick like the title suggests and the earlier installments revolved around.The Spanish thriller was a hit but despite its tight script adaptation, the flick drags a lot and finally goes down.No erotic scenes like the earlier two flicks and yet the flick is certified U/A. The flick's duration is only two hours, yet it looks as if the film is too long.The first hour of the movie makes you feel like it's a horror flick while in the second hour there are numerous twists and turns to accompany, but are predictable. It also looks like the flick is half processed with few questions left unanswered. There is one scene where Vikram carries a kerosene container in his car, making one doubt over him but it doesn't link anywhere in the drama.Vishesh Bhatt, despite having a strong backup support in terms of family and particularly Mahesh Bhatt, isn't able to deliver a decent suspense drama or maybe he made a lazy attempt at filmmaking.The lead actors Randeep Hooda and Aditi Rao Hyadari are not usual but give a decent performance.Randeep Hooda, we know, is full of talent but his unsure body language and his persona doesn't suits his wealthy image in the flick.Aditi has various shades in the flick. She is sensitive at times and makes us chuckle on occasions but isn't steady and that is where the problem lies.Sara Loren in undoubtedly gorgeous and flourishes her beauty but is unexpressive in her acting.Cinematographer Sunil Patel has done a good job. The stunning locales of South Africa are beautifully picturized.Vishesh films' favourite music composer Pritam this time isn't memorable. None of the tracks are such which you would like to take back home. However, the background score supports the scenes.I'll go with 2 stars for this suspense drama which despite of its engaging plot is laid back.
