Movie review: It's Rocking Dard-e-Disco is irritating, a fiasco

The audience in no way can tolerate nonsense in flicks and is mature enough to find flaws in them. Trying to add to the list, Ashok Tyagi's “It's Rocking Dar-de-Disco” could have a better title say, “It's irritating Darde Fiasco”. The story is about two brothers -- Rocky and Rambo, played by Akshay Kapoor and Aryeman Ramsa, who are under the wrong impression that they are the most attractive men in town and, moreover, they have no goals in life. Their father, played by Sharat Saxena, is worried about their bleak future while their mother, played by Upasana Singh, pampers them a lot. The brothers wear buffoon outfits and fool around in the city. One day they try to enter Disco King, Bappi Lahiri's night club, but are thrown out by some grumpy guards, as only invited guests are allowed to join the club. In a coincidence, the same night Bappi's car slams into their van, and the two get entry tickets as compensation. The disco club has a drug master, portrayed by Shakti Kapoor who wants to spread his supplement. But it's a big No No by Bappi Da itself who is against intoxication. So the drug master figures out to kidnap the Disco king. Now will they be successful in their plan, the story drags you on and on through chaos till the end.Like the two brothers, this flick has no goal. Right from the beginning till the end you have no other option except to bang your head for shedding out you money on the flick. The flick has no story but it's a jumble of 90's and Gen Y actors. Director Ashok Tyagi disappoints us at large. His direction will make you throw your cell phone at the big screen.Asrani, who gets supporting roles in numerous flicks nowadays, is yet to come out of his Sholay groove - ‘Angrezo Ke zamaane ke Jailor' attitude. Shakti Kapoor, who is always after flesh of the opposite sex, goes bizarre with his plans to kidnap DK. Akshay Kapoor and Aryemen Ramsay, desperate to prove their talent, make a mockery of their efforts, if any. Once compared with blue-eyed Ashwarya Rai, the expressionless, Sneha Ullal, indirectly explains why she was absent for so long from the industry. Bengali actress Rituparna Sengupta just adds to the mob and has nothing to show. One question that struck my mind, was: what influenced Bappi Da to step into the actor's shoes after being in the industry for such a long time. The reason could be his downfall as a singer and music composer. Well it's too late to comment on his efficiency. But revisiting his classic melodies “Yaad aa raha hai” in his own style is the only shot we like in the flick. Nothing we could expect from Bappi as an actor. You will just witness his trademark gold ornaments and goggles which are too flashy to match with his flab.I'll go */5 stars for Bappi Da's courage to step into an actor's shoes. It won't be easy to hold your seats in theatres. Better if you go for any of the last week's releases or wait for the biggies to come up with their dishes (dishum dishum, romance) this Diwali.
