Shimla: Bollywood playback singer Mohit Chauhan has tied the knot with journalist Prarthana Gehlot at a hotel near here, a family sources said.
The wedding, a low key affair with only family members and close friends attending, was held at the hotel at Barog, 10 kms from Solan, on Friday night.
The 48-year-old singer hails from Nahan in Sirmaur district, Himachal Pradesh, while Prarthana, working with an English magazine in Delhi, belongs to Dehradun in Uttarakhand.
Born in 1964 in Nahan, Mohit started singing as a hobby but his interest grew in music and he formed his own music group The Hijackers and started stage performances.
Soon he became a popular name in Himachal and adjoining states but shot to fame nationally with his band Silk Route group which delivered the hit number - “Dooba dooba rehta hoon”.
He started his Bollywood career with his first song “Gunchha Koi” in “Main, Meri Patni Aur Woh!” (2005). Mohit went on to sing a number of chart-busting songs in films like “Delhi-6”, “Jab We Met” and “Love Aaj Kal”. His most recent success was as Ranbir Kapoor's voice in the film “Rockstar”.
