The award—comprising a memento, citation and Rs five lakh—was presented to the actor by West Bengal Governor M K Narayanan.
Accepting the award, Mithun said he espoused Swami Vivekananda's teachings and believed “in winning by heart and not solely by mind”.
Mithun bagged the national award thrice—for Mrigaya (1976), Tahader Katha (1996) and Swami Vivekananda (1998). Congratulating the ‘Disco Dancer', Governor Narayanan said he was happy the business house, P C Chandra Group, decided to accord this recognition to the actor.
The group has also felicitated stalwarts like the late Ustad Bismillah Khan, Sunil Gavaskar and P T Usha in the past.
