Mickey Virus movie review: Stay away from this virus

It starts off in Delhi where a couple of computer hackers are murdered in the daylight. ACP Siddhant Chauhan (Manish Chaudhary) and inspector Bhalla (Varun Badola) are handed over the case as it's suspected that it may lead to some serious threat to the capital. Ratings-**Cast: Manish Paul, Elli Avram, Varun Badola, Manish Chaudhari, Pooja GuptaDirection: Saurabh VarmaMusic Director- Hanif ShaikhTo tackle the same ACP needs a similar cunning and sharp minded hacker who could crack the toughest codes in a blink of an eye and finally he comes across one lazy but smart Mickey Arora (Manish Paul). Mickey runs a grocery store and side by side makes virus for the anti-virus companies. His hanckerbaaz gang includes Chutny (Pooja Gupta), Floppy (Raghav Kakkar) and Pancho (Vikesh Kumar). Mickey in his attempt to crack the case somehow gets trapped. So how will he get rid of it that is how the story deals further.The hacking concept isn't new and director Saurabh Varma despite of knowing this makes a drama, which could have been brilliant. While the fist half focuses over Mickey's messy life, which includes his self created ‘Kung fu Chameli' game through, which he also fools his customers, the second half takes on the suspense over the robbery of Rs 100 cr.The biggest problem here is the treatment of the entire drama, which is too draggy particularly in the second half. Though, during the initial few minutes you are occupied in solving the puzzle but it's much ado about nothing.The overnight chasing, involvement of your close ones appears to be a stereo type or rather it should be said that the director seems flummoxed over how to disclose the mystery. Director fails in creating a brainstorming suspense. Initially you feel Micky Virus could be another Vicky Donor. Micky's ‘wellapanti' like a dilliwala seems too obvious as he has no serious profession except to chase and woo his dreamgirl Kamayani (Elli Avaram). Has it been made on the same lines could have been much better.The two hour ten minutes seems too long with dozens of flashbacks, which should have been avoided. There are handful of moments where Mickey Virus in fun with its witty characters. Director gives them all opportunity to take as much meat as possible with their short appearances. Among them Inspector Bhalla (Varun Badola) takes the lead.Flourishing around in the local lanes of Delhi, Saurabh particularly focuses on the IT hub established at Nehru Palace. Also the ‘Michael Jackshein' fast food corner tempts you.The keyboard language of conversation between the characters is also commendable but all that is just not enough to spread a virus of entertainment. Debutant Manish Paul gives his heart and soul to flick. He fills in the energy into the character and delivers a brilliant act.Elli Avaram isn't bad considering her first appearance. However, her beauty is what is in focus.Puja Gupta is brilliant as a tomboy girl. Her dialect amuses as the most. Raghav Kakkar shows the craziness while Vikesh Kumar is somber.Varun Badola is brilliant in his act. He amuses us even in the serous moments. Manish Chaudhary is good as a commanding ACP.Music by Hanif Shaikh, though have a short shelf life until the flick will be in theatres, is good considering the scenes. Songs like Tose Naina is good while Pyar China Ka Maal hai just compliments the sequence.Had the script been tight with descent execution, Mickey Virus could have scored high. Two stars for half baked suspense cum comedy drama.
