Mumbai: TV host-actor Manish Paul, who completes a decade in the entertainment industry, feels he has an in-built comic timing.

Manish, 34, said it makes him happy that he is gifted, when it comes to comedy, as it is not easy to make someone laugh.

“It is difficult to make people laugh. There is a lot of hard work that goes into it. To have a good comic timing is an art. I think it is gifted to me,” he told PTI.  “I don't know where I get that comic timing from I think it is in-built. In real life, I am not depressed as my family and friends are happy and fun-loving people,” he said.

The celebrity host, who started his journey as a VJ on Zee Music, has come a long way in the last 10 years from hosting popular dance show “Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa” to bagging the lead role in comedy film “Mickey Virus”.

“I did not realise that it's been 10 years since I am in the industry. It feels great. I am enjoying this phase...  getting to do interesting work on TV and films,” he said.

Recalling his initial days in Mumbai, the actor said he faced rejection many times but never lost hope.s “I did get rejected couple of times but I did not lose hope. There was a time when I had no work.. No one helped me in getting work,” he said.

Though one of the leading faces on television, Manish feels he is yet to attain stardom.

“I don't think I have become successful enough now. I don't think I have touched stardom. I am working hard and I would like to be known as a star.. superstar,” he said.

The actor will be seen next in Abhishek Sharma's “Tere Bin Laden 2”, a sequel to 2010 satire that starred actor-singer Ali Zafar, and action-comedy “Katha”.  “I met Abhishek for some work and this role came my way.  The expectations are high as first part was really good. It might release by end of this year or early next year. We hope people like it,” Manish said.

Besides comedy, he would also like to explore genres like action and horror.
