New Delhi: After Fawad Khan (Khoobsurat) and Humaima Malick (Raja Natwarlal), yet another attractive Pakistani actress, Mahira Khan is slated to make her debut in Hindi cinema.
This Pak import won notices worldwide for her performance in Shoaib Mansoor's 'Bol' (2011). She impressed one and all with her innocent charm as Khirad in Zindagi channel's ‘Humsafar' opposite the very dashing Fawad Khan.
And if we go by the latest buzz, then this Pakistani beauty might be seen paired with our very own Shah Rukh Khan.
She visited Mumbai last month after her television serial Humsafar gained popularity and dropped subtle hints of the Hindi filmmakers whom she may consider working with. Obviously, the ones who were the quickest to move in were producers Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, who finalised the VJ-turned-actress for
'Raees' being directed by Rahul Dholakia.
The film has Shah Rukh Khan playing a don and is likely to have Nawazuddin Siddiqui playing a cop. According to a leading tabloid, a source said that SRK had dropped in at the audition to meet Mahira.
Further, a source quoted by the daily has said that the makers were looking for an 'international' face instead of a familiar Bollywood name, which explains how Mahira bagged the coveted role.
“She plays SRK's wife in the film. He's a gangster based in Gujarat while Nawazuddin Siddiqui is the cop who traps him in Mumbai. It's a complex role and both the film's director Rahul Dholakia and producers, Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, believe she is perfect for the part.”
The casting of the leading lady of this film has been a mystery for a while with earlier reports suggested that Sonam Kapoor and very recently Kirti Sanon had bagged the big role in a Shah Rukh Khan starrer .
Mahira is married to Ali Askari and lives in Karachi. However, she will work from Mumbai while working on this plum role.
Shah Rukh is currently filming Maneesh Sharma's Fan in Mumbai. He will later work on Rohit Shetty's next and Rahul Dholakia's 'Raees' in 2015.
