Former Bollywood star Madhuri Dixit's show Jhalak Dikhhlaa Jaa 4 (JDJ), co-judged by Remo D'Souza and Malaika Arora Khan, has reached a climax. According to a media report, there are rumours that Madhuri would be judging season five and six of JDJ over the next two years. It was also learnt that choreographer Saroj Khan, who has choreographed some of Dixit's most popular numbers, is planning to produce a dance show with the actor.
“Talks are on and if everything works out well, I will be part of the next edition of JDJ,“ confirms Dixit. “When BBC and Sony approached me for Season 4, it took them a lot to convince me because I wasn't willing to leave my kids in the US. Now I want to go back to my sons Arin and Rayan. I've not cooked for them in such a long time. I'm going to be home in the next few days and I'd love to feed my children from my rasoi (kitchen).“
Industry estimates are that Madhuri was paid between Rs 50-60 lakhs per episode to judge the show. The figure is far lower than what Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar are being paid for their stint on TV. “Female actors often get paid lesser than their male counterparts. But if an actress knows her worth she can and should ask for the desired amount. I've always worked on a fee I'm comfortable with,“ says Madhuri.
The report says, Sony has been favouring contestant Meiyang Chang. Apparently, during one of the shoots for the finale episodes, Chang scored a perfect 30, whereas Sushant Singh Rajput and Yana scored between 25 and 29 points. It's also said that the audience was made to give Chang a standing ovation for his act.
Dixit clarifies, “We're not favouring any contestant. If you look at all the episodes, Sushant has mostly scored full marks. Yana too is a gifted dancer and Chang is being talked about because he was initially a non-dancer who can now perform any dance form. This show doesn't work only on the scores given by the judges. Fifty per cent of the result is based on viewer votes.“
