Candolim: From international icons to national DJs, the message at the second day, Sunday, of the ongoing Vh1 Supersonic 2014 was clear -- as loud as it gets in terms of music and spirits is well.
The four-day music festival started Saturday at Candolim beach here with high octane performances by popular artists from India and around the world such as DJ Funkagenda, DJ Dillon Francis, Detroit-based producer of techno music Carl Craig and Arjun Vagale. Moving a step ahead from the benchmark set on the first day, the fest emerged as a winner.
Grammy-nominated DJ and producer Paul van Dyk stole the show on the second day with his energy.
He was seen jumping and prancing on the stage with the audience. His popularity was quite visible when he performed in front of people here who looked mesmerised with his tunes and tracks. In fact, as his session neared its end, gloominess took over the crowd with people chanting "once more, once more" as he bid adieu to the stage and his audience.
Another crowd-puller was DJ Mark Knight, who played interesting compilation of electronic music at "Spectrum" stage. The foot-thumping beats with minimal vocals, not only added the energy factor but also grabbed eye-balls.
DJ duo VINAI made the crowd dance on their fast beats and remixed versions of tracks like "A sky full of star" and "Dangerous". When they played the popular number "We will rock you" a frenzy took over the crowd turning it into a party anthem for the night.
Other performers were Gareth Emery, Mash and Maya Jane Coles amongst others.
It is a common belief that EDM fests are for youngsters, but the second edition of the music fest proved the notion wrong. People from all walks of life were seen at the venue mingling with the crowd and enjoying the music. One of the reasons that drew them towards the fest was the curiosity to experience something new.
Sanjay, who had come to the event with his family from Mumbai, said they were attending the fest like this for the first time and were floored by the talent and energy being produced at the festival.
Echoing the same, a housewife from Goa, Sweta Talavlikar, asserted that she wanted to be part of the event as she has never been to something like this before.
The hosts MC Stretch, MC KC Jones, Rohit Barker and Mackenzie Pereira also pumped up the adrenaline level of the crowd.
"The response is fantastic though it is a slow start due to the heat but the party will start once the sun goes down. It is a privilege to be involved with the fest," said MC Stretch.
