Film maker Mira Nair met tennis star Leander Paes in Miami to discuss the script for the project The End of Bandit Queen, and the possibility of her coming on board, says a media report.
Project manager Siddharth Chandra and Leander Paes met Mira Nair in Miami a week-and-a-half ago to discuss getting the director on board for their project.
The film is based on Sher Singh Rana, who made the headlines for assassinating dacoit turned politician, Phoolan Devi. Paes is likely to play Rana's role.
Mira, who was on vacation with her son, met the duo at the Miami Tennis festival, which led to extensive meetings about the film.
Producer Jagjeet Singh Walia said: “Mira was kind enough to have long meetings with Chandra and Paes. She has liked the subject and the script of the film.”
The report quotes a source: “Mira seemed particularly impressed with the research that Walia had done on Phoolan Devi's character. She was taken up by Leander's passion for the role of Sher Singh Rana. She promised to help them as much as she could.”
Nair, who has been asked to direct the film, has requested for some time to decide.
Walia confirmed the offer: “I shall wait for Mira's final answer, before approaching any other director. I would love it if she takes charge.”
