New Delhi: “Lata Mangeshkar is a miracle. She has been singing for more than 60 years and we don't get fed up of her voice, we will never be.”
This is how Rajya Sabha MP Karan Singh described the melody queen while releasing a book on her titled ‘Aisa Kahaan Se Laoon' here today.
“She is an inspiration for many and we all admire her. I take the occasion to pay glowing tributes to her while she is living and we wish her to sing more and inspire us more,” he said.
He said ‘Rasik Balma' filmed on Nargis Dutt in the film ‘Chori Chori' is his favourite among her songs. “She can sing in any language,” he said.
Praising the author of the book, Padma Sachdev, Singh said that she is a very eminent writer who enjoys a great respect in Dogri language writings and has been very closely associated with the singer.
The book gives an insight into the life and times of Lata Mangeshkar and throws light on various events in her life, he said.
The author said that the book is based on memoirs, discussions and interviews with the singer and highlights some lesser known aspects of her life.
Sachdev also said that she enjoys the distinction of making Lata to record four songs in Dogri, which is the author's mother-tongue.
Singh, on the occasion, sang a song in Dogri ‘Pahada De' on the insistence of the audience and received a thunderous applause.
