In the annual year-ender poll for the sexiest vegetarian by PETA, the results have B-Town's stars and other celebs vying for the position, and sharing the space with past winners — international actors Alicia Silverstone and Natalie Portman and singer Shania Twain. We peeks into the ongoing hotly-contested race and gets the stars to expound on their lifestyles, says a media report.
That's what celebs would like others to feel when it comes to their mantra for living well. Top contender of the poll, actor Lara Dutta feels, “Going vegetarian is not only a great way to trim your waist, but you'll be shrinking your carbon footprint too,” she says, adding, “I love that my diet is as kind to the planet as it is to animals and my health!” Seconds actor Amrita Rao who is at no. 6, “It's a great feeling to eat
‘green'. By being vegetarian, I'm fuelling my body with the rich nutrients in fruits and veggies, helping animals and doing my part to save the planet.”
According to the poll, politician Shashi Tharoor is ahead of actor Amitabh Bachchan. For actor R Madhavan who's beatenBachchan and Shahid Kapoor, the secret lies within. “It's about being compassionate,” he says.
“Having a healthy heart is a great bonus, but I'd rather people think of me as having a good soul and a kind heart.”
While actors Kareena Kapoor and Mallika Sherawat are neck-to-neck for position 2, Mallika admits being vegan is what helps her shine inside out. To a query about the thing that's best about being a vegetarian, Mallika shot back, “Being healthy (and) having a clear conscience.”
Says Poorva Joshipura, chief functionary, PETA India, "Celebrities like Lara Dutta, Madhavan, Shahid Kapoor, Leona Lewis and Bryan Adams all have something in common: they are hot and humane! It's a close race, with Lara Dutta and R Madhavan taking the early lead, but Mallika Sherawat, Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Shashi Tharoor and Amitabh Bachchan are running close behind."
