Mumbai: Forest contractor Pervez Tak, arrested in connection with the abduction case of Bollywood starlet Laila Khan and her five family members, would be taken to Igatpuri in Nashik district where they were claimed to have been shot dead last year, Crime Branch said today.

The Crime Branch of Mumbai police is probing the kidnapping case of Laila and her family.

Tak had allegedly confessed to have shot Laila and her family members dead in Maharashtra last year during his interrogation by the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

However, according to Crime Branch sources, Tak named Shakir Hussain, watchman at Laila's Oshiwara house and hitman Sonu for allegedly bumping off the starlet and her kin on February 9 last year.

Officials said that they would now take Tak to Igatpuri to verify his claims.

Sources added that Laila's house in Igatpuri was set on fire in less than five days, after she and her family members were claimed to have been killed.

According to police, Laila's stepfather Asif had told them that he was in office when the murder took place. “We are verifying the credentials of Asif's statements and are checking his call records”, the officials said.  Crime branch sources said that they are on a lookout for the watchman Shakir Hussain. “We have got his photograph,” they added.

Sources added that no criminal case was found against Tak in Mumbai, even though a case had been registered against him in Kishtwar.

Meanwhile police have also detained Laila Khan's driver Jolly Guilder and one Mehboob.

The starlet and her family- mother Shelina, elder sister Hazmina, twin sibilings Zara and Imran and another relative - went missing from here in February last year.  Records at the airports are also being checked to ascertain whether Laila and her family members had fled to Dubai, officials said.

A case of kidnapping was registered at the Oshiwara police station here, on the complaint of her father Nadir Patel. According to the complaint, Tak and his accomplice Asif had kidnapped Laila and others.
