Mumbai, Jun 22: The Ladakh International Film Festival (LIFF), to be held in Leh next month, has been postponed due to the tragedy unfolding in Uttarakhand, organisers said.
The festival was to be held from July 5 to 7. "Hundreds of people have lost their lives and more than 60,000 people are stranded.... We stand in solidarity with the victims and their family in period of grief and mourning,"
Festival Director Melwyn Chirayath said in a statement here. "It seems grossly inappropriate to go ahead with LIFF under such tragic circumstances. Leh, which is also a part of the Himalayan region, has been largely unaffected by the inclement weather. As a precautionary measure we will be postponing LIFF till September," Chirayath said. New dates would be announced after consultation with the local government
