Mumbai, Dec 27: Karan Johar has reportedly signed Ruchi Narain to direct his next untitled 'offbeat' film, according to a media report.
A source from the industry revealed,"Karan has signed Ruchi for his next film. Ruchi is best known for her work as a writer in films like Hazaaron Khwahishein Aisi, Snip, and Calcutta Mail.
She also directed the critically acclaimed film Kal - Yesterday And Tomorrow with Shiney Ahuja and Chitrangda Singh.
The film released in 2005 and Ruchi has been lying low ever since.Probably to bounce back with a film produced by Karan Johar."
The source added,"The film will star newcomers and is scheduled to go on floors by February next year."
Another source said,"Karan Johar has been trying out different subjects ever since he made Kaal.That was the first action thriller he produced.Then he made films like Wake Up Sid.
"However,with Ruchi's project,he will be venturing into a territory he has never been before.Karan is confident of the script though.
"And everyone at Dharma is pretty excited about it.Karan intends to announce the project in a big way in the New Year.Till then everything has been kept under wraps."
