New Delhi: Ranveer Singh and Parineeti Chopra starrer ‘Kill Dil' failed to capitalize over the hype created around with its star cast and music and ended its first weekend on a disappointing note.

The movie which was expected to get a bumper opening after three weeks old ‘Happy New Year' failed to do any wonders at box office. While the Shaad Ali directorial opened to a dull response raking in Rs 6.85 cr, the Saturday and Sunday's collection were all the more same. On Sunday, the movie collected Rs 7.10 cr taking its three days total to Rs 21 cr nett in India.

The movie's performance at box office is really disappointing considering the star cast it carried. Ranveer Singh's last release earlier this year ‘Gunday' had a fabulous opening weekend with Rs 40 cr and something nearby was expected from his second outing.

On the other, this year is not turning out to be good for Parineeti who however, had a decent start with Hasee Toh Phasee, but with Daawat-e-Ishq and Kill Dil she has soared up the number of duds in her filmography.

Ranveer Singh has once hit the ton in the form of ‘Ram-Leela' opposite Deepika Padukone while Parineeti who has mostly worked in offbeat movies is yet to taste Rs 100 cr success.

It might be tough for Kill Dil to recover even its production cost of over Rs 40 cr by its first week while this Friday release ‘Happy Ending' starring Saif Ali Khan, Ileana D' Cruz, Kalki Koechlin and Govinda won't allow Kill Dil to sail safe further at the box office.
