New Delhi: It seems that 2016 has begun on a rather unsavoury note for comedian Kiku Sharda who is more famous as ‘Palak' of ‘Comedy Nights With Kapil'.
The comedian has landed himself in a legal trouble after he mimicked Dera Sacha Sauda Chief, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh during a special New Year programme.
Singh's followers filed a case against the comedian after he mimicked the self-claimed godman in popular show "Comedy Night With Kapil", which was aired on 27 December.
Kiku was booked for hurting religious sentiments and now has been arrested.
Yes! It's true.
According to the sources, Kiku was detained last night from the sets of ‘Comedy Nights With Kapil'. He was Kaithal, Haryana for interrrogation and has been sent to 14-days judicial custody by the court.
If the media reports are to be believed, Kiku Sharda had already apologised for imitating Baba Ram Rahim.
“I have a lot of respect for Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singhji. The look [on the show] wasn't deliberate; it just happened to match [Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh's look]. We didn't plan it as a spoof on him. It's a coincidence, and it is unfortunate. I am sorry that people felt hurt. We never try to do any such thing intentionally, or try to get headlines out of it, or want people to talk about our show in this manner. There is nothing more to it”, Kiku quoted earlier.
Well, Kiku's comedy indeed took a bitter turn for the comedian this time.
