Katrina Kaif has been named "Newsmaker of the Year" after topping the chart of internet searches compiled by Yahoo! India.
The search engine published its '2010 Year in Review ' which identifies top trends of the year from millions of consumer searches and top stories from the Yahoo! network.
According to the findings, Kaif surpassed politicians and sports stars as the most searched for term in India.
The actress was said to have topped the list for both "professional and personal reasons" according to the review, on account of acclaimed performances in films like Rajneeti, as well as her breakup from Salman Khan and alleged romance with Ranbir Kapoor making headline news.
According to Yahoo! India, online activities were dominated by Bollywood, cricket and the Indian Premier League.
