After playing a politician in Raajneeti, Katrina Kaif is soon planning to meet Sheila Dikshit, Ambika Soni, Priyanka Gandhi face to face
Katrina Kaif is taking her role as a politician in Raajneeti very seriously. After modelling her character on various well-known politicians, Katrina now wants to meet them so that she'd know how much of what she has done with her role is close to the truth.
Initially Raajneeti director Prakash Jha laughed off her intense level of commitment. “Tum toh Shabana Azmi ban gayi ho,” he teased Katrina. But when he realised she was serious, he got down to the business of arranging her meetings with the politicians who served as reference points for her role in the film.
Fortunately for Katrina, all the politicians who were her reference points, barring Indira Gandhi, are alive.
Apart from Sonia Gandhi, Prakash Jha had given Katrina video recordings of Sheila Dikshit, Ambika Soni, Priyanka Gandhi and Indira Gandhi. A meeting has now been arranged for Katrina with Sheila Dikshit, Ambika Soni and Priyanka Gandhi. Sonia Gandhi is on the wish list.
It's no coincidence that they are all from the same political party. It was always part of Prakash Jha's plans to take the government into confidence by the time Raajneeti was released. The director is hoping that once key members of the party watch Raajneeti they'll recommend the film for exemption from entertainment tax in pivotal centres.
Katrina is now looking forward to meeting her role models. “It's always a pleasure to broaden your horizons. My only regret is I can't meet Mrs Indira Gandhi. Apart from my mother, she's the woman who has inspired me the most,” she says.
