New Delhi: A rumour has been making rounds that Sujoy Ghosh was to cast Deepika Padukone for his next film opposite Saif Ali Khan but it turns out that it was Jacqueline Fernandez all along as the first choice.
When Sujoy Ghosh announced that he was working on a murder mystery that stars Saif in the lead role, everyone started guessing about the heroine of the film. Then Sujoy Ghosh visited ‘Piku' sets recently and rumours started making rounds that Deepika will star in the film.
But it was Jacqueline as the first choice in the film. The actress is flying high nowadays after appearing opposite Salman in ‘Kick'. The Sri Lankan beauty has four films lined up for 2015 release among them a Hollywood film too.
It was Sujoy Ghosh who gave Jacqueline her first break in Bollywood with ‘Aladin.' The film that also starred Amitabh Bachcchan and Riteish Deshmukh was a box office disaster.
And when Sujoy Ghosh decided to make another film, Jacqueline is his first choice for female lead. Saif Ali Khan has already been finalized to play protagonist in the film. The duo worked together in ‘Race 2' earlier.
When asked about if the news is true, Jacqueline confirmed to a leading daily saying, “Yes, I have been approached by Sujoy. But its too early to talk about it as the paper work is yet to be done. I am excited about reuniting with him after (Aladin) and sharing screen space with Saif.”
The actress is busy shooting for ‘Roy' opposite Ranbir Kapoor.
About his visit to the ‘Piku' sets ‘Kahaani' director clarifies that it was just a friendly visit to meet Shoojit Sircar and Amitabh Bachchan.
