New Delhi, Sep 11: Kundan Shah's 1983 cult film "Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro", a political satire, will be back in theatres Oct 26.

"PVR Director's Rare in association with NFDC (National Film Development Corporation) will be re-releasing the digitally restored version of Kundan Shah's cult classic 'Jaane Bhi Do Yaaroon' on the 26th of October 2012. The film will be re-released pan-India exclusively at PVR Cinemas only," Shiladitya Bora, head of PVR Director's Rare, told IANS.

The poster for the film's re-release is doing the rounds on social networking sites, with excited fans posting dialogues from the movie, and already making plans for their outing.

Siddharth Raghupatruni, a fan, wrote: "Can't wait to watch this in a hall. Though I have a CD, but still, classic toh classic hota hai (a classic will always be a classic)."

PVR Director's Rare is an alternative programming initiative of PVR Cinemas to support the theatrical release of critically acclaimed, independent films.

When Shah had set out to make the movie, he had applied for a loan of Rs.400,000. But later, the NFDC decided to fund it.

"The initial budget of the movie was Rs.685,000, but the production cost went up and finally it was made at a budget of Rs.725,000," he had once told IANS.

"Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro" narrated a tale of two simple and honest photographers, essayed by Naseeruddin Shah and Ravi Vaswani. They witness a murder and get dragged into the corrupt real estate circle where politicians and bureaucrats are involved.

The movie, which also featured actors like Pankaj Kapur, Om Puri, Satish Shah, Neena Gupta and Satish Kaushik, is noted for its slapstick humour.
