Inkaar movie review: brilliant performances by Arjun Rampal, Chitrangada

You pass a comment like ‘hey beautiful', ‘I wish I could have met you before your fiance', to make the environment cool and casual. The point over here is how one perceives such comments? To make it worse, some times it is termed as sexual harassment.Sudhir Mishra's ‘Inkar' gives you an insight into the working environment of the corporate world where the a member of the board of an advertising company Maya played by Chitrangada Singh, alleges that the CEO of the company Rahul depicted by Arjun Rampal, indulged in sexual harassment. Lest the situation goes out of hand, a meeting-cum-hearing headed by a member of the women's social welfare society takes place in a conference room of the office. In legal terms, we can say both- the petitioner and the culprit get an opportunity to justify their actions in the presence of their office colleagues. While both explain how it began and led to harassment, the flick on numerous occasions, with great editing work, takes you via flashback, when Maya was a small town beginner and ready to make big in the advertising industry. Supported by Rahul, she learns the basics and the tricks of the trade to succeed. In one word, Maya is a Rahul creation. And while she is on the verge to make it to the top, Maya directly or indirectly becomes the victim of the vulgar potshots from people, like she slept with her boss, to make it worse. The frustration from all around and gossips lead Maya to file the case of sexual harassment against Rahul.The flick keeps you curious till the end as to in whose favour the decision will go. You sympathize both with Maya and Rahul as it's not just they who are trapped by misfortune and the misunderstandings which come out in their corporate working environment, but many of those egoistic metropolitan workers who face or presume similar situations in their corporate world are also faced. The story is related to each and every officegoer ,who being in a jolly world, are trapped within a dirty gossiping environment. Sudhir Mishra clearly draws a line between harassment and casual environment in today's corporate world. Or if we are able to judge between the two. There are situations where it is said that men are probably in a better position to compliment a woman on her dress or appearance without this being viewed as inappropriate while if a woman does that a man would potentially take it the wrong way and regard it as a come-on, because women usually are not direct in that way. Or is it so? You are even forced to give a thought to this. But despite its bold portrayal and a clear message there is restlessness in the climax. You would wonder where was the sexual harassment case and where the two leads disappear and why?But the lead actor Arjun Rampal has done a tremendous job as a mentor and an advertising genius of the corporate world. He has given a far better performance than his previous flicks and one would surely acclaim his act.Chitrangada is seductive and like in two of Sudhir's brilliant flicks earlier, she has given a commendable performance. Her curiosity and hardwork portrayed for the company represents every small town girl who honestly believes in hard work and wishes to make big in the industry.Vipin Sharma, Deepti Naval and Gaurav Dwivedi have also performed brilliantly in their supporting role.Music by Shantanu Moitra supports good in the background and the songs like 'Maula tu malik hai' and 'Darmiyan', sounds good to ears but wouldn't find a place in your imagination.I'll go with 3 for Sudhir Mishra's brilliance. Despite its unfavorable conclusion, the flick holds you till the end and portrays a decent drama altogether.
