Mumbai, May 2: Bollywood celebrities today said that if the US could get into Pakistan and kill Al Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden, India should also bring the perpetrators of 26/11 Mumbai attacks to justice and act against fugitive terrorists like Dawood Ibrahim.
"Will we ever be able to go in and kill the 26/11 planners??? Feels strangely good to see a dead Osama but feel the war isn't over. Will Pak ever hand us the 26/11 terrorists or do they still need proof? Do they still believe that terrorists aren't hiding there (sic)," Director Punit Malhotra said on micro-blogging site twitter.
"Anyway, cheers to the US. They finally managed to do what everyone had given up on... perhaps a lesson for India? They go to Osama and kill him," Malhotra said.
Filmmaker Kunal Kohli too echoed similar sentiments and questioned that if US could go after Laden in Pakistan, what prevented India from doing so?
"The US does a covert operation in Pakistan, with their support & gets Osama, why can't we get the Mumbai serial blast & 26/11 masterminds?."
Veteran actor Anupam Kher said, "Kudos to America's intelligence and security forces for operation Bin Laden. It is important to pursue goals and then achieve them."
"Whatever the future of terrorism is after the death of Osama I am right now so very very very happy for America..3000 CHEERS!!!," filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma said.
Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur said, "Surely US would have wanted Osama alive not dead. Something wrong. Hope Indian Govt gets Dawood alive. If they have nothing to hide."
Sharing similar sentiments, actor Ranvir Shorey, said, "Dear Govt of India, in the middle of your bickering with Pakistan, I have two words for you: DAWOOD IBRAHIM. America leads by example again. Pakistan lies through its teeth again.
India clueless again(sic)." "Bin Laden's demise marks the beginning of the end of terrorism at a time when democracy is spreading throughout the Middle East," director-writer Anurag Basu said.
Pakistani actor-singer Ali Zafar, who made his acting debut in 'Tere Bin Laden', a spoof on the dreaded terrorist, had only three words to say, "Tere Bin Laden".
Actress Gul Panag had an entirely different perspective on the issue. "So finally after a decade, 9/11 has been avenged. The process having killed and maimed countless civilians. All to get one man," she said.
Similarly, actor Rahul Bose hoped that following Laden's death, a sense of balance prevails in the United States.
"Am hoping a sense of balance is maintained in the US at the Osama news. Closure is good, revenge isn't," he added.
Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar hoped that since Osama Bin Laden is dead, the world may now Rest in Peace (RIP). PTI
