Chennai: Music maestro Ilaiyaraaja today said he was ready to compose music for budding new film directors.
"Yes I am ready to compose music for new film directors.. ready to compose for you too," the 71-year-old composer told reporters at the airport after arriving from an event in Mumbai in which he was honoured.
A visibly moved Ilaiyaraaja said he was happy with the gesture of organisers of an event which honoured him on his 1000th musical for Tamil film director Bala's 'Tharai Thappatai'.
Indian cinema's superstars Amitabh Bachchan, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan shared stage together to pay tribute to the music maestro at the Mumbai event.
Answering another question, Ilaiyaraaja said he was also willing to compose music for other devotional content like his "Thiruvasagam," (hymns in praise of Lord Shiva) oratorio.
