Mumbai, Mar 8: The identity of the missing husband of Vidya Balan in her soon-to-be released film ‘Kahani' has kept everyone guessing even as director Sujoy Ghosh indicated that no well-known actor was playing that role.
Vidya portrays a daring, courageous pregnant woman who comes to Kolkata in search of her missing husband in the film.
There were reports that Emraan Hashmi would be seen as her husband in the film but the role is reportedly essayed by TV actor Indraneil Sengupta. The makers have not yet revealed the identity of Vidya's husband in the film and keeping everyone guessing.
“If I put a known face (for husband's role), it acts as disadvantage for me because I can't give him that kind of footage on screen. The reason why I did not put a known face is that with a known face there are lot of expectation. Also you have to understand I don't have stars lined up after me as my last two films were flops...so whatever stars I get, I work with them,” Ghosh said in an interview.
“All I can say is that the ‘husband' is a ‘normal actor'. In five minutes...you will know who the husband is”, he said.
I feel fortunate to have Vidya Balan act and Amitabh Bachchan singing a song in the film, he stated.
For Sujoy, Vidya was the only choice to play the protagonist as he was keen to work with the actress since quite some time.
“Vidya was the only choice for the film. ‘Kahaani' became only due to Vidya. As I always wanted to work with her during ‘Salam-E-Ishq' times,”, he observed.
The director who has given a hit like ‘Jhankar Beats' feels Vidya can essay any kind of role with conviction.
“Vidya is a kind of actress …whatever role you tell her to do...be it an 18-year-old girl or a blind or a mad woman... you just tell her what role she has to do and she does her own research. If she likes the role, she will take care of it,” he said.
