Mumbai : Alleging that she is censor's “favourite punching bag”, TV and film producer Ekta Kapoor is again at loggerheads with the censor board for her upcoming film ‘Kya Super Kool Hain Hum' and has said she will not give up easily.
Produced by Ekta Kapoor, ‘Kya Super....' has already run into controversy because of its adult content and its trailer has also been given an ‘A' certificate by the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
“I share a love-hate relation with Censor Board. I feel I am censor's favourite punching bag. I don't blame them. The problem is that the censor board is under huge pressure like anybody can file a PIL on a film. They have to answer why they passed the film. The agendas are never questioned but the action gets,” Ekta told PTI.
The CBFC refused to show the trailer of ‘Kya Super Kool Hain Hum' in theatres till three scenes from it are not deleted. To deal with the situation, the makers uploaded the uncut trailer on the Internet.
But the filmmaker is determined to fight with the censor board for her upcoming film.“I am going to fight till the last minute.
I would want to have scenes back in the film. They are fun scenes. We have a deadline to fight till next Tuesday or Wednesday because after that we have a release. I hope they understand our point of view,” she said.
“There are three scenes, dialogues and name changing for a character in the film and lots of other issues. When it is an adult film why is there a censorship on it as well.
The issue is not about we going with this adult comedy film but will some political issue happen or not,” Ekta said. “We have liberals and orthodox living in the same society.
So we have those who want society to progress and some want to confine to old traditions. We are constantly threatened by two diametrically opposite ideologies, so the censor board has to keep both in mind,” she said.
The three scenes that the CBFC objected to include Anupam Kher's spoof on late Satyen Kappu's character from ‘Sholay', Riteish Deshmukh commenting on the female anatomy, and a spoof on John Abraham's debut home production film ‘Vicky Donor'.
Also, the dog's name in the film is Fakhruddin, also the name of India's fifth President- Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed. The ex-President's family and a Muslim trust have raised an objection to it.
“In the world we have thousands of leaders in the last 60 years from various political parties so in that case any name will become an issue.
There is no direct connotation towards any human being by calling the dog by that name. We have not shown any attributes of that human being on the dog, we have not made any jokes on the dog,” Ekta said.
The movie is a sequel to the 2005 release ‘Kya Kool Hain Hum' and brings together Tusshar Kapoor and Riteish Deshmukh after seven years. It hits the screens July 27.
Ekta's last home production ‘The Dirty Picture' also had undergone several problems with the CBFC before its release and afterwards.
Vidya Balan starrer ‘The Dirty Picture' was denied permission to be aired on television.
