Actress Lara Dutta, who has become the latest bikini babe of Bollywood with 'Blue', says that she overcame her hydrophobia by shooting for the under water action flick.
The 31-year-old actress will be seen doing underwater stunts with Akshay Kumar and Sanjay Dutt in the film. They were sent to Ko Samui (Thailand) to become certified divers.
"You would not believe but I was a hydrophobic earlier but after Blue I can proudly say that I am certified diver now which is a huge achievement for me," Lara said on the sidelines of MMTC Festival of gold 2009 in Delhi.
The actress, whose svelte figure in the film has become the talk of the town, had to go through a rigorous training to learn swimming and scuba diving for the film which is being touted as Bollywood's first underwater movie.
"'Blue' is a completely different film where I've had a few action scenes too," the actress says about her role in the movie. Directed by Anthony D'Souza, the film boasts of a formidable cast that includes Bollywood superstars Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Katrina Kaif and a song-appearance by Kylie Minogue. "Sanjay Dutt is a great actor and I liked working with him as well. We've shot the movie underwater, I think the audience will like the film," said Lara, who is paired opposite Dutt in the film.
After playing the role of a village belle in Shahrukh Khan, Irrfan Khan starrer 'Billu', Lara is set to scorch the silver screen with her new glamorous avatar in her next releases. When asked about her fitness mantra, Lara said, "I did a lot of swimming which helped me look much more fitter in the film."
The actress is gearing up for two back-to-back releases with David Dhawan's comic caper 'Do Knot Disturb' and 'Blue'. 'Do Knot Disturb' will hit the theatres on October 2 while 'Blue' is expected to release on October 16 and the actress said that she is both excited and nervous to know the reaction of her audience.
Talking about 'Do Knot Disturb', an out-an-out comedy starring Govinda, Riteish Deshmukh and Sushmita Sen, Lara says, "I'm playing a supermodel Dolly in the movie who is in love with a married man (Govinda) and to hide the post marital love affair, different situations arise making it a complete drama with humour," the actress says.
Lara has starred with Govinda for the third time after the success of 'Bhagam Bhag' and 'Partner'.
"It was indeed a fantastic experience working with him again after doing movies like Bhaagam Bhaag and Partner. But this time I got more opportunity to perform with him. But this doesn't end here, I am working with Govinda again in Ravi Chopra's Banda ye Bindaas hai' which will be released soon," the actress said. PTI
