New Delhi, Sep 3: In a decade-long career Bipasha Basu has achieved many milestones but the actress says there have been times when she was not a “go-getter” in Bollywood and she blames herself for that.

The 33-year-old actress, who started her cinematic journey with ‘Ajnabee' and ‘Raaz', says she is no longer content with doing just whatever comes her way.

“I have become more greedy as an actor. There were times when I was not a go getter. Most of the times I have done things that have come to me. I lacked the spirit of going and getting it and I blame myself for that. I know there is a kind of hunger to do some good work. I am just going to try my best,” Bipasha told PTI.

Her last two films—multi-starrer ‘Players' and rom-com ‘Jodi Breakers'—did not do well. The actress is now looking forward to make a successful comeback to box office with her supernatural thriller ‘Raaz 3'.

The 3D film will see Bipasha portraying the role of an actress who resorts to black magic to stay at the top in Bollywood when career starts to decline.

Asked whether actresses go through such insecurities, Bipasha accepted that realities like this exist.

“It is quite crazy but is stemming from somewhere. There are realities like this existing. It is just sad to see human beings degenerate so much for just wants in life,” she says.

The industry, which is dominated by male actors, is currently focusing on actresses with films like ‘The Dirty Picture' and upcoming ‘Heroine' and Bipasha finds it a welcome change.

“Bollywood is very hero centric. They are safe bait and given a chance I would invest in them too because they pull in crowd. I also want to be part of a 100 crore film. Why not? If you want to survive in this business it is best to be safe.

“However, there is a small opening for actresses too and I am happy to be a part of it. People want to have women as protagonists and these are not feminist films. These are interesting stories told where heroines can have substantial roles,” she says.

The actress, who has been part of hits like ‘Raaz', ‘Jism', ‘No Entry', ‘Phir Hera Pheri', ‘Dhoom 2' and ‘Race', says acting was not her first choice and just came her way.

“I never planned to become an actor. Whatever choices I have made are by gut. I have learnt on the job and learnt to enjoy this job.”

Bipasha, who is single after separating from long-term boyfriend John Abhraham, says she is more focused and charged about her career right now.

“I am hungry for good roles, which I have not touched before. At this point of time, I am very very charged. I am a little more driven right now. I want to do cinema that I like to see. I would like to do what I have not done before,” she says.

Bipasha will next appear in horror film ‘Aatma' with Nawazuddin Siddiqui. She is also part of Abbas-Mastan's multistarrer ‘Race 2'.
