New Delhi, Feb 1: Stepping away from his usual comic and action roles, Akshay Kumar will be seen portraying a serious character in his upcoming movie “Special 26” and the actor says he is happy to reinvent himself.
The 45-year-old, who plays a fake CBI person in the movie, said the role is different from what he has done earlier and was a challenge worth taking.
“A con confident artiste is something I have never been offered before and I am happy to have got this opportunity.
I am very satisfied with the role and it was a challenge. But I am happy to get an opportunity to reinvent myself.”
The “Khiladi” actor said his director, Neeraj Pandey, had to convince him a lot to do the movie.
“There was a lot of convincing required from my director that is very important for me.
The director has to make me understand that I can do justice to the role because reading the script is not enough for me.
He should help me visualise the role and let me know how I fit in it,” Akshay, who was in the city to promote the film, said.
Also starring Anupam Kher and Manoj Bajpayee, the film releases on February 8.
