New Delhi: Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan starrer ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania' has opened to a brilliant response at box office though nothing extraordinary happened as was expected from the star cast and Dharma Productions. The Shashank Khaitan directorial did a good collection of Rs 9.02 cr nett in India.
“HumptySharmaKiDulhania Fri Rs 9.02 cr nett. India biz. Despite heavy rains. Despite LaiBhaari affecting biz in Maharashtra. VERY GOOD!”,
Released in over 2200 screens, ‘Humpty Sharma..' has a straight competition with Riteish Deshmukh's Marathi flick ‘Lai Bhaari' , particularly in Maharashtra where theatres went packed for this action drama.
Lai Bhaari also has Salman Khan in a cameo appearance as a character ‘Bhau'. This has also enticed viewers to go for this flick.
Meanwhile, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania is the biggest opener for Varun Dhawan whose earlier flick Main Tera Hero made Rs 6.60 cr nett.
“MainTeraHero opening day was Rs 6.60 cr nett, while #HumptySharmaKiDulhania is Rs 9.02 cr nett. Varun Dhawan's biggest opener!”, tweets Adarsh.
Considered as a perfect ode to the Shah Rukh-Kajol starrer evergreen flick ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge', Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania has mostly received good reviews from all over. Alia-Varun's chemistry is the striking point of the flick who look as loveable as SRK-Kajol.
But let's see if their magic works at box office.
