New Delhi: It's a gala time for Salman Khan and his millions of followers as just seven months after his conviction, Bombay High court has acquitted him of all charges in 2002 hit-and-run case.
Interestingly, it is not the first case of rash driving by a Bollywood actor.
The very first similar case was reported in 1993 involving veteran actor Raaj Kumar's son Puru Raajkumar.
Both cases are strikingly similar and now both actors' have met same fate that they went off hook.
But the damage done in the case involving Puru Raj Kumar was more gruesome than Salman's case.
Puru, in drunken state, was the first Bollywood actor who allegedly drunkenly trampled 8 people on street in Bandra, Mumbai in 1993.
He allegedly lost control of his car and while negotiating a sharp turn, rammed into labourers sleeping on the street, killing three of them and seriously injuring the other two.
Puru too ran away from the accident site, the neighbourhood was jolted out of their slumber by the wails of the men as some of them were stuck underneath the rear wheels of his car.
Puru Raajkumar was never jailed even for a day, and walked away free after paying a little less than Rs1 lakh for killing three and crippling one person.
Khan was also accused of driving in a drunken state and ramming his SUV on the pavement of Bakery in Bandra, killing one person and injuring four others.
Comparatively, Salman's battle for justice has been tougher and has gone on for over 13 years but finally he got a major reprieve from Bombay High Court today.
