Many agree that a lot of scenes in Housefull bear a clear resemblance to some English comedy films. But Tamil producer P L Thenappan claims to know from where the actual inspiration came. According to him, around 60 percent of the ‘Housefull' scenes have been ripped off from his film ‘Kaathala Kaathala'.

Does this allegation hold true? As Thenappan tells a daily, “More than a year back, I was in talks with Housefull's producer Sajid Nadiadawala about selling the remake rights, but the deal did not go through.”

Now, Thenappan has consulted lawyers and the other members of the Tamil Film Producers Council and is planning to take legal action against Sajid Nadiadwala. But the producer has a different story to tell.

Producer Sajid is quoted as saying, “Honestly, this rip-off allegation comes as a nasty surprise to me.” He knows Thenappan through friends and bought the rights of his another film Pammal K Sambandam for his film Kambakkht Ishq and paid him an outstanding price for it despite the fact that no more than five scenes were used for the film.

Now, Sajid is willing to sit with Thenappan and watch the film to seek out similarities.  ‘Kaathala Kaathala' had Kamal Haasan, Prabhu Deva, Soundarya and Rambha. It released in the year 1998 and was a smashing hit.
