New Delhi: First thing first, ‘Happy New Year' starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone has finally entered the Rs 200 club with flying colors and has become the sixth movie to achieve the milestone.
The movie, which opened to a fabulous start minting Rs 45 cr was expected to hit the double ton in lesser time but as and when days progressed, the club looked like a tough target for it. However, the end result is not the same as it was for Bang Bang, which failed to hit the Rs 200 cr mark and ended its box office run at Rs 181.03 cr nett.
‘Happy New Year' took as many as 18 days, becoming the fifth fastest flick, to enter the club. On its third Tuesday, the movie fetched another Rs 75 lacs to hit the double ton and taking the nineteen days total to Rs 200.50 cr nett in India.
‘Happy New Year' is now the second movie this year after ‘Kick' to enter this club while sixth flick ever to achieve the milestone. Aamir Khan's ‘Dhoom 3' and ‘3 Idiots', Hrithik Roshan's ‘Krrish 3', SRK's ‘Chennai Express', are also the movies, which are already into the coveted club.
‘Dhoom 3' took just nine days to achieve that goal while ‘Krrish 3' and ‘Chennai Express' took ten and fourteen days respectively to surpass the Rs 200 cr mark. Salman Khan's ‘Kick' took eleven days to enter this club.
Shah Rukh Khan has become the second superstar after Aamir Khan whose score for Rs 200 cr movie is two while Deepika is the first actress to hit the same number of double centuries.
