New Delhi: The Rs 200 cr club for Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer Happy New Year is still a tough target. While it was expected that by its third Monday, the movie will easily hit the double ton, the final eighteen days figures compiled shows that it's still Rs 25 lacs short from hitting that mark.
The Farah Khan directorial on its second Monday collected Rs 75 lacs taking its eighteen days total to Rs 199.75 cr nett in India, according to a leading website Koimoi.
Happy New Year will be the second movie of the year while sixth flick ever to achieve the milestone. Aamir Khan's Dhoom 3 and 3 Idiots, Hrithik Roshan's ‘Krrish 3', SRK's ‘Chennai Express, Salman Khan's ‘Kick' are movies, which are already into the coveted club.
Here is the eighteen days break through of Happy New Year in India-
Fri 44.97 cr, Sat 31.60 cr, Sun 32.29 cr, Mon 15 cr, Tue 13 cr- Wed 11.50, Thur 9.4 Total 157.50 cr nett.
Week 2- Fri 7 Sat 7.50 Sun 8.50 Mon 3 Tue 3.40 Wed 2.75 Thur 3.35- Total- 35.5 cr nett.
Week 3- Fri 1.5, Sat 1.8 Sun 2.70 Mon .75 Total – 6.75 cr nett
However, the kind of opening Happy New Year received, it was expected that it'll take lesser time to enter the double ton. But as the days progressed, the business witnessed a drop and hence the wait extended.
Dhoom 3 took just nine days to achieve that goal while Krrish 3 and Chennai Express took ten and fourteen days respectively to surpass the Rs 200 cr mark. Salman Khan's Kick took eleven days to enter this club.
The new release ‘The Shaukeens' has also been a reason for a fall in its collection since number of screen count of Happy New Year has decreased to 600. The Akshay Kumar starrer collected Rs 20.75 cr within four days of its release.
Shah Rukh Khan will become the second superstar after Aamir Khan whose score for Rs 200 cr movie will be two while Deepika will be the first actress to hit the same number of double ton.
