The Ajmer police had to rescue Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt and his friends after they were besieged by thousands of frenzied fans inside the Ajmer Sharif dargah.
Sanjay Dutt wasn't prepared to for the surreal experience in store for him at the dargah.The actor, who reached the holy shrine on Wednesday morning with two close friends, managed to enter the sanctum sanctorum easily enough.
He prayed silently for a while, but meanwhile, news of his presence spread like wildfire and a huge crowd gathered outside to catch a glimpse of the star. After a point, the cheers of the onlookers started distracting him and Sanjay decided it would be wise to leave.
But when they attempted to make their way out, Sanjay and his friends discovered that the crowd just wasn't in the mood to let them pass so easily.
Ajmer Sharif dargah is frequented by many film stars and a big crowd gathering to see them is a common occurrence. But this particular episode was something else.
Sanjay's fans just went berserk when they saw him and they were so many in number that the exit points were choked. It was a crazy sight to see people pushing and shoving to catch a glimpse of Sanjay. All of them were saying ‘jaadu ki jhappi do, uske baad jaane denge', but it was physically impossible for Sanju to hug so many people.
The impasse lasted for nearly three hours, and then it became evident that they would need some help. “The dargah security finally involved the local police to secure an exit for Sanjay and his friends,” added the source.
Sanjay Dutt's publicist later said, “It just wasn't possible for Sanju sir to greet each and every person there. While he did hug some people on the way out, it was quite chaotic and the police speeded up the exit.”
