After bagging a role in Woody Allen's film, Slumdog Millionaire actress Freida Pinto is set to portray a Greek priestess in War of the Gods . The film, based on Greek mythology, will be directed by Tarsem Singh. Production work on the movie will begin in April, reports Mail Today.The story revolves around a young warrior Theseus, who leads his men into battle with the immortal Greek gods and the powerful elder gods of the Titans in order to save mankind, Variety reported online.
Pinto, 25, will portray Phaedra, an oracle priestess who must join Theseus, played by Henry Cavill of The Tudors fame. Phaedra joins Theseus to prevent the cataclysmic war from erupting.
The film will be produced by Gianni Nunnari of Hollywood Gang Prods, Mark Canton of Atmosphere Entertainment and Relativity topper Ryan Kavanaugh. Nunnari and Canton partnered on 2007' s 300, which starred Gerard Butler in the lead.The original screenplay of the movie was written by Harley and Vlas Parlapanides while Jason Keller has penned the most recent draft of the script.
Pinto shot to international fame after her role as Latika, the childhood sweetheart of Jamaal, the urchin boy, who goes on to win $ 1 crore in a TV game- show in Danny Boyle's multi- Oscar- winning film.
Pinto has completed shooting for Woody Allen's You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger opposite Josh Brolin and Naomi Watts, and Israeli film Miral , which has been directed by Julian Schnabel. Pinto plays the title part in the movie.
Before bagging the Slumdog Millionaire role, Frieda made an appearance as a background dancer in the song kangana re from the Bollywood movie Paheli , starring Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukherjee.She also used to anchor an international travel show, Full Circle, on Zee International Asia Pacific in English between 2006- 08.
Freida has also featured in several television and print advertisements.She did modelling for four years and appeared in some runway shows and magazine covers as well.
Freida's Israeli film Miral is based on the novel by Palestinian- Italian writer Rula Jebreal. The film documents the real- life story of Hind Husseini.
Husseini established the Dar Al- Tifi orphanage in Jerusalem following the partition of Palestine and creation of the state of Israel in 1948.
You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger revolves around different members of a family, their tangled love lives and their attempts to try to solve their problems.
