Mumbai: "Slumdog Millionaire" star Freida Pinto has praised Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor for standing tall in an industry ruled by leading men.
Kareena has reportedly been paid Rupees 8 crore for director Madhur Bhandarkar's "Heroine", the highest that has ever been paid to any leading lady in the history of Bollywood.
The actress has also starred in four films that have grossed over 100 crore at the domestic box office in less than 2 years.
"Now, it seems to me, even taking Indian cinema in consideration, I feel like this year we have kind of experienced a shift in humanity. In India, actually, there has been a large disparity in how much a female and male actor gets paid, but this year, one actress changed all that," Pinto told Flaunt magazine while crediting Kareena for her feat.
The 27-year-old Indian beauty also turned retro for a photo spread in a magazine, in which she was photographed in a short raven-haired wig in the 1950s inspired glamorous shoot.
The spread has been titled 'Freida Pinto is Museum Quality Beautiful'. In one shot, the actress has been styled in an corseted Bottega Veneta dress in a rustic shade of emerald. In another shot, she is wearing a studded Versace bustier and matching skinny jeans from the luxury label.
