In his next project Kapoor & Sons, Fawad Khan will be playing a gay man. This definitely is one bold step in the Hindi film industry owing to the fact that Fawad is only one movie old.
According to a source from the industry, “Fawad will play a gay in Kapoor & Sons. And yes, the character will be daringly different from anything we have seen the actor do on screen till date.”
Fawad Khan's last silver screen appearance was with actress Sonam Kapoor in the movie Khoobsurat. Essaying the role of a prince, his charm earned him the Filmfare Award for best debut male actor.
Well, in Kapoor & Sons, not only his charm but his acting skills will be judged. This movie belonging to the Dharma Productions repertoire is being closely monitored by its chief Karan Johar.
The Pakistani actor has been appreciated for his stints in TV shows like Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Humsafar and Behadd. Fawad Khan had said that he wants his Bollywood experience to be memorable and he is carefully picking up his projects.
Speaking of choosing movies, Fawad walked out of Battle for Bittora. Produced by Anil Kapoor's daughter Rhea Kapoor, the movie, based on a novel by Anuja Chauhan of the same name, had Sonam Kapoor and Fawad Khan in the lead. But news had it that due to a tight schedule Fawad had to drop the project. Rumours also noted that this has caused a rift between Fawad, who was launched under Anil Kapoor Films, and the Kapoors. However, the actors rubbished these rumours later.
His portrayal of a gay person has already gotten us excited. Kapoor & Sons also stars Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt and is slated for release on 18th March 2016.
