New Delhi: 'Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani' actress Evelyn Sharma says she is turning down offers of item numbers and glamorous roles as she wants to do performance-oriented films in Bollywood. Evelyn, who is famous for her glamorous avatars in films like 'Yaariyan' and 'Main Tera Hero' now wants to impress the audience with her acting skills.
"I have been getting offers of sexy roles and item numbers, but now I want to explore my acting and do characters which require me to perform.
"It is not that I did not like doing what I did but now I want to show people my acting and I am confident that with my upcoming projects, I will be able to break that image," Evelyn told PTI.
The 28-year-old actress will be next seen in the lead role in crime-thriller 'Dannk', to be helmed by 'The Train' director Hasnain Hyderabadwala and an untitled project, where she will play the role of a small town Indian girl.
Meanwhile, Evelyn is excited about her international singing debut. Following the footsteps of Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra, who has released three singles, Evelyn has recorded an international number 'Something Beautiful'.
"It is not pop in nature, it is about my journey in life. I have always been passionate about singing but never thought I could sing professionally. This just fell on my lap and I grabbed it," she said.
Evelyn has collaborated with Indo-American rapper
Brooklyn Shanti for her debut international album and the first song will release on August 13. The actress, a fan of country music, said she would love to work with Australian singer Keith Urban.
"I like country music, it is more real. I am not that much of a fan of pop music. One day I would like to collaborate with Keith Urban. I like his songs," she said. The model-turned-actress said she would also like to work with Priyanka on an album, but for country music.
"Priyanka does stuff in pop music, so I don't know if she will work with me but if she agrees to do country music, I would love to work with her because her voice is amazing and she is one person who follows her dreams. She does what she wants, I admire her," Evelyn said.
The young star, who is working on her Hindi, says she also wants to sing for her own songs in films. "My Hindi has improved a lot so I would like to sing for my own films, if I get an offer," she said, while praising Alia Bhatt and Shraddha Kapoor for their songs.
