Mumbai, Dec 12: Actor Emraan Hashmi will be seen tickling the funny bone in Rajkumar Gupta-directed ‘Ghanchakkar'.
Gupta, who has given hits like ‘Aamir' and ‘No One Killed Jessica', has decided to make a light-hearted comedy, ‘Ghanchakkar', in which Emraan essays the lead role.
“'Ghanchakkar' is one of the best scripts I have come across in recent times. It is commercial, edgy and very entertaining,” Emraan said in a statement.
About the film, Gupta said, “It is a quasi-realistic urban comedy-thriller, highlighting the absurdity of certain real human situations.”
The film will be produced by UTV Motion Pictures, who have earlier produced both the films of Gupta.
“We are thrilled about our third venture with Rajkumar Gupta. What makes the film even more exciting is that we will be working with Emraan Hashmi for the first time,” UTV Motion Pictures CEO, Siddharth Roy Kapoor said.
“He is one of the most bankable stars in recent times. He is playing a role that he has never essayed earlier,” he said.
